PRECIOUS MATERIALS USED
We choose our materials based on their aesthetic and structural properties, while also taking into account their ability to stand the test of time. Precious metals and technical materials coexist in our creations, giving life to complex, contemporary, and high-performance objects.
A significant portion of the metals used comes from responsible supply chains and, wherever possible, from recycled sources. Throughout the production process, every material is handled with care to minimize waste, in line with a conscious and sustainable approach.
18-Carat Solid Gold
18-carat gold represents a standard of excellence in high-end jewelry. Composed of 75% pure gold (750/1000) and 25% other metals, it offers an ideal balance between purity, strength, and chromatic intensity.
Always a symbol of value, power, and beauty, gold has traversed human history while maintaining its charm intact. Its durability and stability make it a preferred material for creations destined to last, keeping its aesthetic identity unchanged.
925 Sterling Silver
925 sterling silver is composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, generally copper, which increases its strength.
It is prized for its brilliance, versatility, and ability to adapt to complex craftsmanship. Its natural malleability allows for a high level of detail, making it ideal for elaborate artisanal creations.
Compared to other metals, silver is softer and therefore more prone to the signs of time, such as scratches or slight deformations. This characteristic does not reduce its value but rather defines its nature: it is a living material that evolves with use and develops its own history over time.
Titanium
Titanium is a high-performance metal known for its exceptional mechanical strength and lightness. It is extremely resistant to corrosion and chemical agents, making it ideal for daily use even in complex conditions.
Despite its robustness, titanium remains lightweight, offering both comfort and durability. Its stability makes it particularly suitable for structures requiring precision and long-term reliability.
Zirconium
Zirconium is an advanced technical material prized for its strength and contemporary aesthetic qualities. Through specific treatments, it can take on deep colors and highly defined surfaces.
It is resistant to wear and external agents, but like all rigid materials, it can be sensitive to particularly violent impacts. Its presence in jewelry helps create distinctive material and visual contrasts.
Sapphire Glass
Sapphire glass is an extremely scratch-resistant synthetic material, also used in high-precision fields such as watchmaking.
Its hardness makes it highly resistant to abrasions and surface marks, maintaining high transparency and brilliance over time. However, due to its hardness, it can be more sensitive to impacts: violent collisions can cause it to chip or break.
Corundum - Ruby and color varieties
Corundum is a crystalline mineral of very high hardness, belonging to the same family as sapphire. In its red variety, it is known as ruby, while in other shades, it can present a chromatic range that includes blue, pink, yellow, and other nuances.
It is a material extremely resistant to scratches and wear, a characteristic that makes it ideal for high jewelry applications. Its crystalline structure ensures brilliance, depth of color, and stability over time. Despite its high hardness, corundum can be sensitive to violent shocks, which may compromise its structural integrity if subjected to direct impact.
Its presence in Aut-Aut jewelry adds symbolic and material value, introducing color, light, and complexity to the compositions.
Acrylic Resin
The acrylic resin used by aut-aut® is selected and treated to ensure stability over time and resistance to UV rays.
This treatment allows it to keep its transparency, color, and depth unchanged, preventing yellowing or clouding due to light exposure. It is a lightweight and versatile material that allows for aesthetic and chromatic experimentation difficult to achieve with other materials. However, it requires careful use, as it can be sensitive to surface scratches and contact with aggressive chemical substances.
Identity
The combination of these materials defines the identity of aut-aut® jewelry: a balance between artisanal tradition and contemporary research.
Each material carries specific characteristics, limitations, and potential. Understanding them is part of the jewelry experience itself and allows for the preservation of its value, aesthetics, and integrity over time.
